BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE MONTH: THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE

Image
It's been awhile before I read a book as comforting as the one I am recommending.  Regardless of your religion/spirituality, this book opened the path to new perceptions about difficult situations.  I can honestly say this book has helped me tremendously from falling into depression; only some books leaving you feeling happy after reading a few pages, and this is definitely one of those books. ABOUT THE BOOK: The most basic question everyone faces in life is Why am I here? What is my purpose? Self-help books suggest that people should look within, at their own desires and dreams, but Rick Warren says the starting place must be with God and his eternal purposes for each life. Real meaning and significance comes from understanding and fulfilling God's purposes for putting us on earth. READ MORE: http://purposedriven.com/books/pdlbook/

Something Special

This time of year is always a special time in my life; August 1st, marks my eight year anniversary living in LA.  What makes it special, is knowing I moved here alone physically and financially.  Furthermore, to anyone else whose moved away from their home/family and is 100% independent - my hat goes of to you too:-) My friend told me about a quote in the movie called Fight Club.  When I heard it, I absolutely fell in love with it- not just because it sounds good, but because its the truth that my journey to LA has made me feel.  In this particular scene its said, " It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything ." Value

" If you don't understand your value, you'll neve r know what you have." Once I was told that being in your twenties was called, "the lost twenties."  Most my friends and acquaintances who are in this age bracket (including myself) are/were trying to figure out who we are,  what we want, and what we are meant to be - perhaps this is what makes dating so difficult?  How can we get what we want, when we don't know what we want?  How can we get what we deserve, if we don't understand what we have to offer?  Of course this doesn't apply to just dating, but to all areas of life.  There's not one person I ever met who didn't have something unique about them that sets them apart from everyone else - OWN IT, and you can have it all.
